What are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are wafer-thin shells that are attached to the front of your teeth. They are typically made from porcelain because the material mimics the way your enamel reflects light. We can use veneers to cover a wide variety of aesthetic issues, including:

• Discoloration that can’t be corrected by tooth whitening
• Worn down, chipped or broken teeth
• Misaligned or irregularly shaped teeth (such as those that have unsightly bulges)
• Small gaps

Process for Getting Porcelain Veneers

During your first consultation, you’ll need to tell us what kind of improvements you want to make. Once you’re committed to getting veneers, we’ll reshape the surface of your teeth so that there will be enough room for the veneers. We’ll then take an impression of your tooth that will be sent to the lab where the veneer is made. When it’s ready, you’ll return to our dental office, and we’ll confirm that the shade and fit are correct before using a special cement to bond the veneer to your tooth. Once a special light has hardened the cement and the final adjustments are made, your new grin will be ready for the world.
